Junior Polo Spring Games: Stanford Water Polo Club will once again be hosting the Junior Polo Spring Games for athletes ages 11 & under. The games are designed to provide our Junior Polo athletes with some local competition.
Competition dates are: March 13, March 27, April 10, and April 24. All games will be held from 9:00-11:00am at the Roble Pool, Stanford University. (Please see Events Calendar below or click on the Calendar button on the left for a monthly calendar view.)

Strength Development Program:Stanford Strength Coach, Stephen DiLustro, will be offering a strength development program this session for our high school level athletes. Coach DiLustro currently trains the Men's Water Polo Team at Stanford University. The program is designed for athletes who have a background in strength training and are looking to engage in a challenging conditioning program. This program will be open to High School level athletes only, and workouts will be held at Stanford University.
The Strength Development Program is a unique opportunity for our club athletes to strength train for the physical demands of water polo. The focus is on the development of each athlete's strength, power, and flexibility, all fundamental components necessary for high-level athletic performance. Athletes will learn how to safely build strength and agility while performing challenging and exciting workout routines in a controlled and educational environment.
Detailed information will be posted here as soon as it becomes available.
Junior Olympics Selection: During the Spring Session, the coaching staff will be evaluating athletes for the summer Junior Olympic teams. Our 2010 Summer Session is currently scheduled to begin on Monday, May 17th, with Junior Olympics being held July 31st - August 3rd. The JO Qualifying Tournament (mandatory for all athletes selected for and wishing to attend JO's) dates are as follows:
12&U athletes (born in 1997 and younger): June 18-20
14&U athletes (born in 1995 and 1996): June 18-20
16&U athletes (born in 1993 and 1994): June 11-13
18&U athletes (born in 1991 and 1992): June 18-22
Per USA Water Polo's new change in it's Conduct of Championships, an athlete's age for USA Water Polo Zone Qualification Tournaments and National Championship events will be determined by your age on the first day of the respective National Championship Finals competition, not the year you were born, as in years past. Thus, the age cut-offs per group for the 2010 Junior Olympics will be as follows:
10&U: July 31, 1999 and later
12&U: July 31, 1997 and later
14&U: July 31, 1995 and later
16&U: July 31, 1993 and later
18&U: July 31, 1991 and later
Stanford Club athletes may be selected to play up an age group. Such decisions will be made by the coaching staff on a case by case basis.
Events Calendar: Below you will find information on our Spring Session and upcoming events. Please also see the Calendar (button on left) for practice days and times, competition dates, and special events.

JUNIOR POLO CLINICS (See dates below)
During the months of April and May, we will be running four one-day clinics for beginner level athletes, ages 11 & under. These clinics are designed to introduce the sport to young, new athletes who would like to give water polo a try. During these one-day clinics, athletes will receive a basic introduction to the sport and participate in games in a fun and exciting learning manner. We encourage all of our Club Families to help spread the word about our Junior Polo Clinics!
Registration for these clinics will take place at the venue on the day of each clinic. (There will be no pre-registration.)
The cost is $20 per clinic, or $60 for all four clinics.
